Les Arènes de Lutèce (the Lutèce Arena – Lutèce was the original name of Paris), is in the Latin Quarter, and was built in the 1st and 2nd centuries. The arena is 132 meters long and 100 meters wide, with a capacity to hold up to 15,000 people!! The Lutèce Arena, with the Cluny Thermal Baths, are the last existing sites in Paris that date from the Gallo-Roman period.
Today, the site of the Lutèce Arena is a public park that is often used by Parisan pétanque players.
For Paris 2018 Gay Games 10, the Lutèce Arena will host the pétanque event.
