The swimming pool Georges-Vallerey was formerly called “La Piscine des Tourelles”. Constructed occasionally for Olympic Games of 1924, it was particularly the scene of the world record of 400 meters Freestyle set by Johnny Weissmuller, the future Tarzan.
Its renovation in 1989 makes of the swimming pool “La Piscine Georges-Vallerey” an first-class equipment. The Pond increased in 50m x 21m. It is the first one in France to be had a pit, deep of 3 Meters, for the synchronized swimming. A removable wall allows to create two ponds of 25 m, and one mobile floor modulates the depth of the pond from 0,80 m to 2,12 m.
The improvements also concerned the restructuring of the terraces which have from now a capacity of 1500 seated spectators for the putting in show of the swimming.
This swimming pool welcomed “International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics” IGLA on 2000 and 2007 with more than 800 swimmers in every edition and the “Championnats de France de Natation des Maitres 2014” with more than 2 400 swimmers, the quite organized by “Paris Aquatique” in association with the French Federation Of Swimming.
